CARLA E GIULIO
Una storia di passione, coraggio e rinascita
Giulio, Carla, and other goats:
I met Carla at a local organic market of small producers, and her story immediately fascinated me.
Julian, her partner, came to Italy from Romania in 2017 in search of work. Here he met Carla, in a town in the province of Rome, and they quickly discovered a shared passion for goats. They adore the goats’ personality, physicality, complex male-female rituals, and the uniqueness of their milk.
They have a daughter together, Alexandra, and Carla has two other daughters from a previous relationship.
Their life flows happily until an incurable illness strikes Giulio.
They sell the goats, focus on fighting the disease, but the outcome is unfortunate.
Carla and Ale find themselves alone, lost in this new dimension until Carla realizes that continuing their shared project is the only way out.
She buys back a few goats and resumes the activity. It’s hard work, but she feels the enthusiasm for this engaging lifestyle once again.
I am still following Carla’s life with my photos: I admire their, and now her, choice of life outside the classic circuits of globalization, in contact with nature, which, despite the effort it requires, brings her joy and fulfillment.
